
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Lakhpati Didi programme in Vansi Borsi hamlet in Gujarat’s Navsari district to commemorate International Women’s Day. The Prime Minister will speak with the Lakhpati Didis. He would also provide five Lakhpati Didis with Lakhpati Didi certificates. At the ceremony, the Prime Minister will launch the Gujarat government’s G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) and G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income) programmes.
The Lakhpati Didi Sammelan, which begins today at Vansi Borsi in Navsari, will draw over 1 lakh women from Navsari, Valsad, and Dang districts. During the programme, the PM would deliver over ₹450 crore in support to women from over 25 thousand self-help groups across Gujarat. The Prime Minister will also announce two new Gujarati government programs, G-SAFAL and G-MAITRI.
G-SAFAL will provide financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to SHG women from Antyodaya families in two Aspirational districts and thirteen Aspirational Blocks in Gujarat, while the G-MAITRI scheme will provide financial assistance and hands-on support to Startups working to create a conducive environment for rural livelihoods. It is worth noting that, as a result of the government’s comprehensive efforts, around 1.5 lakh women in Gujarat now earn one lakh or more per year and are known as Lakhpati Didi.
