New Delhi: On Sunday, AAP MLA and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi attacked the BJP-led administration in Delhi harshly, charging it of misleading people and neglecting to apply the Mahila Samridhi Yojana as promised.
Her comments came one day following Rekha Gupta’s approval of the program, which seeks to give qualified women ₹2,500 monthly aid. Cleared in a Cabinet meeting on Saturday, the scheme—branded as “Modi ki Guarantee”—is projected to help 15–20 lakh women from economically poorer areas.
Atishi, however, said that despite the March 8 deadline, no money has been credited or the registration process started, therefore betraying the pledge of the BJP government.
“PM Modi had given Delhi’s ladies assurance that by March 8 ₹2,500 will be deposited into their bank accounts. Promising they would get a confirmation message, he advised them to match their phone numbers to their accounts. However, on March 8 neither was the payment credited nor a registration page established,” Atishi alleged to IANS.
She also attacked the BJP for only creating a ministerial committee instead of carrying out the plan, claiming that this was a delaying strategy meant to prevent living up to expectations.
“Today’s Delhi women are aware that ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ is a hoax. PM Modi has not only made huge claims before elections but also backtracked after, not the first time. The people of Delhi and the whole nation will not trust such misleading promises anymore,” she said.
The BJP hasn’t yet addressed Atishi’s claims.
