These devices have reportedly received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), indicating a potential imminent release. These upcoming smartphones might be equipped with the Snapdragon 480 chipset, coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

Anticipation Builds as Reliance Teases Imminent Launch of New Jio Phones in India

Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings), a well-known figure, posted a screenshot revealing the alleged BIS listing for these Jio Phones. The model numbers JBV161W1 and JBV162W1 were granted BIS approval on August 11, based on the leaked information. Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t divulge any further details about the phones’ specifications.

At this time, Reliance Jio hasn’t disclosed any specifics about the impending Jio Phone launch. The company’s 46th AGM is slated for August 28 at 2:00pm IST, during which it’s anticipated that Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani will make an official announcement about the Jio Phones.

Rumours surrounding the Jio Phones have persisted for a while. Last year, the Geekbench benchmarking platform saw the emergence of a Jio Phone identifiable by the model number Jio LS1654QB5. It was rumoured to be equipped with a Snapdragon 480+ SoC, an Adrian 619 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. Leaks have also suggested a dual 13-megapixel rear camera setup on the 5G-capable device. The expected features include an Android 12 operating system, a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, and an 8-megapixel front camera. Powering the device could be a 5,000mAh battery, with support for 18W fast charging.
