In a landmark step towards renewable energy, Odisha is set to witness the establishment of a massive solar power project worth ₹25,000 crore. This ambitious project is expected to generate 6 GW of electricity, significantly boosting the state’s green energy capabilities.
The initiative, led by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, is poised to create around 14,000 jobs during the construction and operational phases, providing a major employment boost to the region. Spanning across Bolangir, Boudh, and Kalahandi districts, the project will utilize barren land for setting up solar plants, ensuring minimal disruption to agricultural activities.
Odisha’s Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has welcomed the project, emphasizing its importance in transforming the state into a green energy hub. This development aligns with India’s larger goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
The state government is extending full support to the initiative, offering necessary clearances and infrastructure to expedite the project. Upon completion, the 6 GW solar energy output is expected to cater not only to Odisha’s power needs but also contribute to the national grid, enhancing energy security.
This mega project signals Odisha’s growing commitment to sustainable development and its potential to become a leader in renewable energy production in the country.
