Today the Odisha Vigilance department discovered a stash of three gold biscuits, gold ornaments, and Rs 15 lakh in cash in a major crackdown on corruption during inspections at numerous places linked to Deputy Commissioner of the State Transport Authority (STA). The raids were motivated by claims of Mohanty building wealth outside of his acknowledged sources of income.
Under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, vigilance, Bhubaneswar, the anti-corruption squad concurrently investigated nine places surrounding Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, and Cuttack. Most of the recoveries—including cash and gold—were found in Mohanty’s house in Maitri Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
While the raids continue, officials still have to determine the whole value of Mohanty’s moveable and immobile qualities. The probe stresses the Vigilance Bureau’s continuous efforts to remove corruption and assign public authorities accountable.
