Western Railway Launches Yatra Mobile App for Live Train Status Updates

The Western Railway (WR) has introduced the Yatra mobile app that enables commuters to track the live status of trains operating on its suburban network between Churchgate station in south Mumbai and Dahanu in Palghar district. Developed in collaboration with a private firm, the app offers several other features, including GPS tracking devices installed in all suburban trains, providing commuters with their real-time location. The app can also help users find the nearest stations, view train routes, and explore tourist destinations near stations. The software provides accurate and timely train updates, latest timetables, maps of major railway stations, and their amenities. The app is also divyangjan-friendly, allowing persons with disabilities to operate the app via voice commands with the help of Google Assistant.

The Western Railway’s move to introduce this app comes after Central Railway launched a similar app to track live suburban trains in July of the previous year. The Yatra app is expected to provide commuters with a hassle-free travel experience by enabling them to plan their journey better and stay informed about train schedules and timings. With this app, Western Railway aims to offer a modern and efficient commuting experience for its passengers.
