WhatsApp Enables Text Editing within 15 Minutes of Sending

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to edit their sent text messages within a 15-minute timeframe. This feature, previously tested on beta versions, is now available to all global users. While WhatsApp already offers message deletion, the edit feature eliminates the need for rewriting the entire text, saving users time.

In a Facebook post, Meta head Mark Zuckerberg announced the feature, making it easier for users to correct mistakes without deleting the entire message. Users can edit messages within 15 minutes of sending on Android, iOS, and the web interface. To edit, long press and choose the “edit” option from the menu.

Edited messages will display an “edited” tag, indicating modification, but the editing history is not accessible to recipients. WhatsApp also provides a delete option for mistaken or wrongly sent messages. The company assures users that edits are protected by end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp announced the global rollout of this update in a blog post, highlighting its usefulness for fixing misspellings or adding context to messages.
